WE UNDERSTAND THE
IMPORTANCE OF
ENSURING THAT YOU
HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE TO
COMPETE SUCCESSFULLY IN
TODAY'S CHALLENGING
JOB MARKET.
Our Careers Advisers will assist you in making those
key decisions: whether to seek a specific career, to
continue with further study, to apply for teacher
training or to start your own business. Working
closely with and within the academic departments,
whatever subject you plan to study will be
supported by contributions from the Careers and
Employability Service to help you make that
successful transition into the next stage of your life,
whether in work or academia.
We support students to gain work experience
through volunteering, part-time opportunities,
vacation work and internships. Our JobShop service
advertises local and national vacancies all year
round; both jobs after graduating and parttime/casual
or work experience opportunities.
We hold Careers Fairs for the major employment
sectors of the University, such as the annual
Careers Fest and the Teaching Fair. Above all, we
encourage local employers to visit and deliver
workshops and interviews.
INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
In addition to the work placements and sectorspecific
employability and enterprise modules
that many of you will have embedded in your
course, we have developed our GraduateOn
internship scheme.
Our commitment is to make sure that students
from all disciplines who register on the scheme,
and successfully complete the necessary
preparation, have the opportunity to apply
for carefully matched internships.
This scheme aims to ensure that students will
graduate with:
• A focused, high-quality CV
• Interview and selection centre preparation
• The ability to identify and articulate
transferable skills
• Experience of a recruitment process
• Substantive relevant work experience
• Workplace skills
As part of the programme, we aim to:
• Identify and promote short-term student
employment opportunities with a focus on
specific sectors
• Ensure that there are a range of opportunities
provided, including internships of both short
and long duration
• Sign post Chichester graduates to other internship
schemes, where available
To assist you in securing any of these
opportunities we provide workshops to help you
choose the right employment sector for and we
will also help you build your skills for application
and selection.
