If you fancy a complete change of life, a way to make a living
in France without the daily routine of a '9 to 5' office job, then
have you considered working as an agent for Leggett?

L
EGGETT IMMOBILIER
has 500 agents across
France, yet is considered
a 'family firm' which
means it is a popular
choice for British expats. Working as an agent
is essentially
running your own business, so
brings freedom and flexibility
- and time to enjoy your life in
France too.
It goes without saying you
need to have a passion for
both houses and people, as
Carol Curtis, an agent working
in Brittany's Morbihan, tells us:
"Having worked in retail for a
few years, I have always been
a 'people person'. I am good at
really listening to what buyers
want, and becoming part of their
story. The best aspect of my job
is seeing people fall in love with
a house after showing them 20!"
Being a good communicator is key,
and Carol also loves
being independent yet part of
a regional team. "I started working for
Leggett a year ago and
I felt really supported by other
members of the team as I was
growing into the job. We work to
each other's strengths."
Becoming an agent is also a
great way to integrate with your
local community, suggests Lorraine
Deure, Leggett's Head of
Recruitment.
"Most people come to us,
having enjoyed other careers
first, and they don't have to
have lived in France," she says.
"They bring to the job all sorts
of life experience, and need to
have a fair level of French, but
don't have to have worked in
property."
You can find out more via recruitment events
held in France
and the UK, or with the online
videos, but if you apply and are
accepted, there are four days of
induction training at the company's Dordogne
HQ. "We provide
you with the A-Z of how to be a
successful agent, and the training will also be ongoing
during
your role.
"Agents work on a commission-only basis - with excellent
rates - but they do need to be
self-motivated to go out and
find mandates and build up
their own portfolio," adds Lorraine.
"This entails some hardwork
in the beginning.
