LEGGETT IMMOBILIER - LOCAL KNOWLEDGE YOU CAN TRUST 57
hole it though, because Lower
Normandy has more than its
fair share of glamour. Go to the
casino, harbour or racecourse in
Deauville and you'll see just as
many Ferraris as you would on
the Côte d'Azur.
UPPER NORMANDY
This is the next département
along, and the 'other half' of
Normandy - which is often
thought to be a single département.
It is home to the city
of Rouen and its historic
cathedral. You'll find prices rise
slightly because you're closer to
Paris. You'll also find wonderful
architecture and a beautiful
coastline too. This region boasts
a great location because not
only do Le Havre and Dieppe
give you easy access to the
UK; it's also a short journey to
Paris with its TGV train links and
international airports.
PICARDY
Neighbouring Upper Normandy
to the east is Picardy. This is
home to three very different
départements. House prices
vary here, as the southern parts
border the Île-de-France and
host commuter towns for Paris.
NORTHERN & WESTERN FRANCE
L
ETS FACE IT Northern &
Western France is home
to pretty much everything that is good
about
the country. You can fly
into Paris or any of our plentiful
regional airports, hop across the
channel by train or boat - and
our motorway network makes
driving around the regions a
real pleasure.
Once here, you'll find picturesque
coves, sandy beaches, glorious countryside
and
architecturally rich towns and
cities, including Paris itself. For
our purposes we've divided the
area into seven regions: here's a
whistle-stop tour.
BRITTANY
This is my home and a simply
wonderful region where you'll
meet some of the friendliest
people on the planet. Take a
look at the outline of Brittany
on a map and you'll see instantly
that you're never far from
the sea. You can choose from
beaches that face north, south
or west. Take a drive across
Finistère to the westernmost
part of France and you'll feel
as though you've escaped the
stresses and strains of everyday
life and entered a new world.
Property across all four départements
is great value, with the
lowest prices in the Côtes-d'Armor,
which faces onto the Golfe
de Saint-Malo.
LOWER NORMANDY
Our departmental neighbours
to the east, Lower Normandy,
would have something to
say about value-for-money
property too: the region has an
average property price of just
€132,000. At the time of writing,
that's well under £100,000.
With Cherbourg offering such
easy access to the UK it's a
popular spot with international buyers.
